Senators Set For A Showdown With Lawan Over Appointment – Naijanewsdirect

Some senators in the National Assembly are threatening to challenge the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan over the appointment of his former aide, Ahmed Kadi Amshi as the Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission.

The aggrieved senators bemoaned the lopsidedness in the appointment of Ahmed Amshi who hails from the same state, and local government with the Senate President. Just like the Senate President, Ahmed Amshi is from Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Sources within the upper chamber revealed that the said senators maintained that the issue will not be swept under the carpet, saying that as soon as the Senate reconvenes in January after the festive season break, the issue would be on the front burner in the Senate.

The newly appointed chairman of the Commission, Ahmed Amshi was legislative aide to Senator Lawan in the 8th Legislative Assembly when he was Senate Leader in the upper chamber. Ahmed Amshi succeeds Senator Joy Emordi who was appointed by the immediate past Senate President, Bukola Saraki to head the Commission.
