Nifemi also named a deceased female colleague, Aduke Gold, as another victim of the sexual abuse allegedly by Julie King.

Julie King

Julie King, at a press parley in Lagos on Monday, September 9, 2024, in the company of his legal counsel, defended himself against these grave accusations. The veteran music producer proclaimed his innocence, insisting that he is being unjustly maligned.

“The rape accusation was nothing but a calculated attempt by Nifemi Gold and her supporters to repay me with evil for all the good I have done for them,” he declared, adding that he was just a victim of a vicious smear campaign, orchestrated to tarnish his reputation and bring him down.

Explaining himself further, Julie King who noted in ‘Nigbati’, a Yoruba online television talkshow interview that he helps artistes produce their songs mostly out of compassion and has never taken N10,000 in cash at a go since he started with developing artistes, said; “Somebody sent me the video in which Nifemi Gold made the allegations, and I was indeed devastated. When I saw it, I didn’t know what to do, I quickly informed a friend who also watched the video and advised me on steps I have taken so far.

“I’m not  a rapist, I’m happily married and God blessed me with a good wife and kids. Nifemi Gold is a liar and a scammer,  I didn’t rape her, nor did I rape Aduke Gold as Nifemi had alleged. I connected her with Aduke Gold and they only met once before she died, and I can categorically tell you that all her claims were fallacy”.

Speaking on the steps he has taken on the issue, Julie King stated that his  lawyer has written a letter to Nifemi Gold, giving her a 14-day ultimatum to retract her allegations and apologize to him via the same platforms she used to scandalize him or be ready to meet him in court. Also, she is to pay the sum of N2bn (two billion Naira) as compensation for the damaging allegation.

Julie King also disclosed that the defamation case has been reported at the State CID in Panti, Yaba, Lagos State.

How I met Nifemi Gold

“I met Nifemi Gold in 2019 at Imole Joseph’s album launch and I’ve  been supporting her music career since then, not knowing she had an ulterior motive against me. Although, we are very close, she was my client and also my friend, but we’re not emotionally close. Her family were also in the know of my support to her. There was a time she was depressed and wanted to commit suicide and I came to her rescue.”
