
In a breath, the political terrain all over the country has assumed a heated melody; and Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos is not left out in the fray.
On Saturday, 21st January, 2022, the candidates for elective post in the coming election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government filed out in a earth-shaking campaign flag-off.
It was indeed a mammoth crowd of party faithful who turned out in their numbers at New State High School, Palm Avenue, to witness the glorious occasion just as the principal stakeholders and leaders of the party in the LG were visibly present at the August event all of whom made colourful and embracing speeches that attracted loud ovations in appreciation of the support(s) for their respective candidates.
In his encouraging speech while presenting party flags to the two candidates in Mushin Constituency 2 – Hon. Toyin Fayinka and Hon. Yinka Kazeem, the Apex leader of Mushin and the Director General of APC Campaign Council in Lagos, Distinguished Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon a.k.a GOS, urged residents of voting age to pick up their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), from the various collection centres. He also enjoined members of the party to adequately mobilise their family members, friends and neighbours towards collection of voter cards, stressing that the PVC is the only ‘weapon’ they can use to vote all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Other leaders of the party spoke glowingly about the enviable electoral achievements of Mushin LG in previous general elections and earnestly harped on the need to sustain the momentum or even surpass it.
From every indication, the Mushin political terrain is set to take the bull by the horn as the leader in the pack owing to what some of the leaders opined at the campaign flag-off and this will give an edge to the LG in the eventual result sheet of the general elections come next month all things being equal.
Those that graced the epoch-making event included, member, Federal House of Reps, representing Mushin Constituency 2, Hon. Bolaji Yusuf Ayinla; Lagos State APC Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo; Special Adviser to the Gov. on Arts, Culture & Tourism, Femi Martins; Mushin LG Chairman, Emmanuel Bamigboye; APC Mushin LGA Chairman, Babatunde Shitta-bey; former Mushin LGA APC chairman, Aremo Michael Kufisile; heads of Huasa and Igbo communities in Mushin; religious clerics; traditional leaders among others.
Famous Fuji musician, Alhaji Sulaimon Adio ‘Atawewe’ was on hand to thrill party faithful to scintillating song and sang the praises of all the APC candidates, especially Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
