Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilón Pass Tottenham Medicals – Naijanewsdirect

Tottenham Hotspur are a step closer to finalising deals for Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilón after both players passed medicals in Spain, ahead of theirtransfers to London.

Manager José Mourinho has made it abundantly clear that he wants new signings before the window closes after watching his side slump to a 1-0 loss to Everton, and it appears as though his wish will soon be granted.

Deals with Real Madrid over both playerswere agreed on Wednesday, and nowMovistar+ has claimed that the pair have successfully passed medicals at Madrid’s training complex ahead of travelling to the UK.

Spurs have agreed to pay £13m to bring Baleback to the club, with Real Madrid agreeing to finance a portion of the Welshman’s wages to get a deal over the line.

90min understands Spurs have also negotiated the option to buy Bale permanently at the end of the season – something which Real are obviously hopeful will materialise.

“There’s a long way to go on some issues, but without doubt Gareth is closer to leaving Madrid than at any time in last seven years,” Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, said earlier in the week, via Sky Sports News. “The deal is complicated, but there’s reason to believe a deal is close and things could move very quickly if discussions continue to go well.”

As for Reguilón, The Guardian note that the deal will set Spurs back a cool £27.6m, although they had to agree to Real’s demands over a buy-back clause and first refusal on the player to be able to get this one over the line.

The buy-back clause is believed to sit at close to the £40m mark, and according to Marca, it will only be active for the next two years. Conveniently, that’s when Real left-back Marcelo’s contract expires.

Manchester United were also keen on Reguilón but refused to bow to Real’s demands, insisting that a buy-back clause was never going to be accepted.

The belief is that the Reguilón deal could well be confirmed in the near future, although there may be a slight delay with Bale. Given the lucrative nature of the deal, there are still a few minor details to finalise, but all the signs suggest it’s just a matter of time.
