Court Remands Senator Ali Ndume In Prison As Abdulrasheed Maina Trial Continues – Naijanewsdirect

A Federal High Court has ordered the remand of Senator Ali Ndume, at Kuje Correctional Centre over his failure to produce the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina.

Ndume who is representing Borno South, stood as surety for Maina who is standing trial on alleged money laundering charges

Justice Okon Abang ordered who stood surety for the fleeing defendant in May 2020, would only be released from prison until he either produces Maina in court or sells off the N500m worth of property located in Asokoro, Abuja, which was used as the guarantee for the bail bond and tenders the evidence of the payment of the proceeds of the sale into the Federation Account.

The judge ordered that he be remanded in Kuje prison until when he meets the condition for release.

It would be recalled that Maina has repeatedly failed to appear in court for the continuation of his trial which led to the revocation of his bail by Justice Okon Abang.

The justice also ordered a bench warrant for Maina’s arrest anywhere he is sighted. Maina’s trial-in-absentia was adjourned to November 24.
