Like the previous editions, the 12th edition of Arise Women Conference held at The Astro Turf of Redeem Christian Church of God, City of David, Oniru, Lagos lived up to its pre-event billing.
The annual conference which was held on 31st October, 2020, with the theme: Deeply Rooted – Staying Alive, witnessed the convergence of people from all walks of life, especially women from far and near who graced the occasion, while others joined live via zoom.
At this year’s edition, the convener of Arise Women, Dr Siju Iluyomade, unveiled a palliative package – Arise Pink Bucket Palliatives which contained rice, groundnut oil, spaghetti, sugar, toothpaste, wheat flour among others. She made it known that the palliatives would be distributed across the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos state.
According to Siju Iluyomade, a lawyer of over 35years of experience, “we have started distributing the Arise Pink Bucket Palliatives in Surulere and Lagos Island. This will go on to other Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in the State, this is art of Arise intervention for the country during this period, apart from the one we did at the peak of Covid-19 for Lagos State Government”.
The Arise Women Conference is one of the most anticipated inspirational and empowerment event, and has over the years emerged a source of relief to many less-privileged and individuals in the society.
Apart from the Conference which often witnessed prominent distinguished women in the country as speakers, to inspire women, it is followed up with empowerment programmes and support in form of social amenities like hospitals, School buildings, IT Centres and many more, in some parts of the country.
This year’s edition saw notable personalities like Chairman of Access Bank Plc, Dr Ajoritsedere Awosika, Mrs Stella Okoli, CEO, Emzor Pharmaceutical; Professor, Akin Abayomi, Commissioner of Health, Lagos State; Tomi Coker Commissioner of Health Ogun State among many other notable individuals.
Each of them spoke glowingly about responsibilities of Women in the society, particularly at a trying period of Coronavirus. Mrs Awosika commended the Convener, Siju Iluyomade, for sticking out her neck to inspire and empower the less-privileged in the country through many intervention of Arise Women Foundation.
